At the end of the fall semester each year, NLC art students are given the opportunity to submit artwork to the art department for judging. Some students submit a portfolio, which contains five to six pieces of art that represent the student’s best work. Other students enter solitary pieces for the League for Innovation competition only.
Before the start of the spring semester, the art department faculty jury the pieces for awards and competitions. This year North Lake faculty reviewed 13 portfolios and a total of about 110 art pieces.
Awards were given based on these criteria: competency, achievement, dedication, enthusiasm, variety of media, creativity, content, craftsmanship, and technique.
