SWEEPSTAKES AWARD – The newspaper’s second consecutive win; First place: Overall Excellence, staff;
Judge’s comments: “Packed with news and reader-friendly. The staff seems hyper aware of its core audience. Stories are relevant to student life and offer an array of hard news, personalitydriven features and entertainment. We appreciate a page one story on First Amendment policies regarding an anti-abortion movement’s tactics on campus. It was tactful and well balanced, with views from both sides of the abortion issue represented. We applaud any newspaper that puts a freedom of speech story on page 1A. Stories on SGA caught our attention, too. Overall, we like the paper’s airy design and good use of color. The arts coverage is better than average. The 30-year anniversary special section was nice. We’re sure it became a treasured keepsake.”
