Festival de la Familia de Irving

IRVING, Texas. 31, August 2000 - To kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, North Lake College, the City of Irving, and Las Colinas Medical Center are sponsoring the Irving Family Festival (Festival de la Familia de Irving). The Festival will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2000 at the South Irving Center of North Lake College. Free immunizations, cholesterol and glucose screenings are available with music, food, games and prizes.

The sponsors organized the festival to promote health, wellness, education, and community services available to the Irving Hispanic community. Joe Putnam, Mayor of Irving, and David England, President of North Lake College, will open the event.

The Festival will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at North Lake's South Irving Center located at 440 Nursery Road, on the southeast corner of Irving Blvd. and Nursery. The Center provides guidance, courses and instruction in Spanish as well as English to the South Irving community.

Educational opportunities are offered by the Dallas County Community College District without regard to race, color, age, national origin, religion, gender or disability.
