North Lake College Hosts Microsoft National Conference

IRVING, Texas. Jan. 24, 2001 - North Lake College is hosting a two-day Microsoft conference for community college CIOs and IT professionals. The Microsoft Community and Technical College CIO Summit will highlight technology issues particular to this audience group with a look to future technologies. Attendees share similar interests and challenges in offering progressive programs with limited resources.

The Microsoft Education Group is working with the college to produce the event on Thursday and Friday, February 1 and 2, at North Lake. A focus discussion will be about the "Connected Learning Community." Microsoft will present its vision of this community, new technologies, and stepping stones to achieve the vision.

North Lake College will conduct a Technology Showcase as part of the program. The college's highly successful Microsoft Certification Program will be featured. Included in the Showcase will be the Dallas County Community College District's Distance Learning program, emphasizing North Lake's use of the program to provide an online component for several academic and technical courses offered at the school.
