IRVING, Texas. May 18, 2005 — North Lake College,
the Committee for Italians Abroad and the Italian
Club of Dallas present Italian soprano Angela Papale
and pianist Fabio Marra in concert on Thursday, May
26 at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Performance
Hall. Tickets are $15. Proceeds will be donated to
the college’s scholarship fund for the college’s
Rome Studies abroad program.
The operatic recital is titled “L’Opera
Italiana Fra ‘800 E ‘900”, a nineteenth
century Italian operatic journey. Works will be performed
from Italian masters to include Bellini, Verdi and
Puccini. The President of the Committee for Italians
Abroad, Vincenzo Arcobelli, was instrumental in bringing
the concert to the DFW area.
Ms. Papale is a rising newcomer in Italian opera,
having completed her studies at the Conservatory
in Milan and studied voice with several noted teachers.
She has won numerous competitions and has sung leading
roles in operas such as Don Pasquale, La Bohème,
and L’Elisir d’amore. Fabio Marra, accompanist,
has performed throughout Italy and abroad as both
a soloist, accompanist and conductor.
North Lake College Rome Studies is a semester-length
study abroad program in Italy. The scholarship fund
supplements students’ tuition who would otherwise
not be able to attend.
North Lake College is a member of the Dallas County
Community College District. The college is located
