Concert to Benefit Student Scholarships to Italy

IRVING, Texas. 07 April, 2006 — The North Lake College Center for Visual and Performing Arts presents “Il Duello Italiano,” an evening of Italian vocal music for two voices. The concert features Marsha Anderson, soprano, and Ronald Montgomery as tenor singing music from the 17th century to the present. The concert is Thursday evening, April 27, at 8:00 p.m. in the college’s Performance Hall, tickets are $20 each.

The duets include classical operatic composers such as Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, and Puccini with a selection of popular Neopolitan songs. The entertainment from the back and forth conversation of two different voices in dialog makes for an exciting and very energetic performance. Anderson and Montgomery have collaborated for over 15 years in concerts in Europe and the United States.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to a scholarship fund for North Lake students who wish to attend the college’s Rome Study Abroad Program. Program Director, Marsha Anderson, says that “students who have some funds for the program, but not enough, are helped with our scholarship money to spend a semester in Italy. North Lake has had the Rome Program for many years, and I have seen it transform students’ lives. They come away with a new appreciation of art, music and culture and a world-view perspective of their life.”

Pianists for the evening will be Sondra Roberston and Dr. Francis Osentowski, music director at North Lake. Call (972) 273-3560 for more information and for ticket reservations.
