IRVING, Texas. 17 July, 2006 — North Lake
College has six students who won national and regional
scholarships to two-year institutions. Two students
received the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation scholarships,
a nationwide program, and four students have been
named LeCroy Scholars, a Dallas County Community
College District (DCCCD) program.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 350 students
scholarships in two-year colleges to those students
who have demonstrated academic success and participated
in community service. Each student receives $1000.
The LeCroy Scholars are named by the Dallas County
Community Colleges Foundation for their outstanding
leadership and scholarship. Each student receives
up to $3,200 to attend any DCCCD college.
North Lake College students Vicki Riley and Meagan
Vogt are among the 400 recipients nationwide named
to receive the Coca-Cola Scholarship. Both are Irving
residents. Vicki is majoring in technology and plans
to graduate next year. Meagan’s goal is to
become a teacher, she has two more semesters at North
The four North Lake Students who will receive the
LeCroy scholarship are: Carmina Becerra of Irving,
Karmen Casey if Irving, Mason Marchant of Irving,
and Joanne Stewart of Lewisville. Seven students
in total were named LeCroy Scholars.
North Lake College is a member of the DCCCD. Educational
opportunities are offered by the DCCCD without regard
