North Lake College's North Campus is 1-Year-Old

IRVING – A little over a year ago North Lake College’s North Campus opened its doors, providing easy access to higher education in the far northwest section of Dallas County.

“We are making a significant difference in the lives of people in our community by providing access to higher education in the northwest corner of Dallas County,” said Dr. Herlinda Glasscock, president of North Lake College. “We have been well-received in Coppell. I am proud of our outstanding staff, the beautiful facility and all that we have been able to accomplish for our students in a year.”

From fall 2008 to fall 2009, the North Campus has seen enrollment increase by 45 percent, from 767 students to 1,115. More than 500 people attending classes this fall are returning North Lake College students, while more than 350 are attending North Lake for the first time.

For more than 100 students, the North Lake College North Campus is their first college experience.

“The North Campus has proved to be a wonderful place for students to receive a college education,” said Dr. Paul Kelemen, vice president of Community and Economic Development, North Lake College. “It’s a wonderful place for a first-year student, or a student who is coming to college for the first time. We are able to give personalized attention and also provide the students with smart technology classrooms, wireless facilities and all of the student services we provide at our Central Campus.”

Located at the southeast corner of State Highway 121 and Sandy Lake Road, the North Campus of North Lake College serves as a “beacon of education” for the far northwest section of Dallas County. In addition to student support services, the campus provides freshman and sophomore academic transfer courses for students wishing to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Career programs, continuing education offerings, and general education courses are designed to meet workforce demands and student needs.
