IRVING – Dr. Gabriel Bach, a government professor at North Lake College, was recently named the college's President's Scholar. Every year faculty are invited to submit proposals to be considered for the prestigious honor.

The popular professor's proposal was on "Volunteerism, a Factor in our National Pysche?" He talked about the role of volunteerism in the United States and referenced Alexis de Tocquevile, French philosopher Ernest Renan and the U.S. Constitution's Preamble.

Dr. Bach also wrote about Service Learning in the latest issue of the News-Register. The program combines academic study with community service.

To hear Dr. Bach speak, check out graduation at 10 a.m. on May 8 at Loos Field. He will be the commencement speaker.
