North Lake College Hosts Open House to Showcase New BlackBerry Curriculum

IRVING – North Lake College, the first academic institution in Texas to introduce a curriculum from the BlackBerry® Academic Program from Research In Motion (RIM), is pleased to announce that it will be expanding its program offerings beginning this fall. The college will showcase the curriculum at an open house on Tuesday, June 8 beginning at 2 p.m. The open house will be held on the Central Campus located at 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving.

The new curriculum will develop students’ real-world skills and knowledge in planning, administering and supporting BlackBerry® technology for businesses, and prepare them for immediate entry into the job market. The courses are also designed to prepare students for BlackBerry® Certification Program exams to become recognized experts in the technology field. Stu dents will train on the latest BlackBerry® smartphones to ensure they receive first-hand experience during the learning process. BlackBerry academic courses are developed by RIM.

We are always looking for new opportunities to better prepare our students for the jobs of today and tomorrow,” said Dr. Herlinda Glasscock, President at North Lake College. “IT professionals who have experience with BlackBerry technology are in very high demand. Our new BlackBerry curriculum responds to industry needs, while making our students more qualified. We are so pleased that the Irving Las Colinas Chamber facilitated the connection between North Lake College and RIM. It's exciting to be working with RIM to provide our students with this valuable training.”
