– North Lake College held a graduation ceremony for twelve students
who completed the Medical Office Professional Program, a North Lake College Workforce Development
initiative funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), on Friday, December 10.
The program prepares students for employment in the healthcare industry, specifically in the areas
of customer service and electronic medical records.
North Lake College President, Dr. Herlinda Martinez Glasscock, welcomed the family and friends of
the graduates, and Joyce Williams, District Director of Workforce Development, was the keynote speaker.
About the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is an economic stimulus package enacted by the 111th
United States Congress in February 2009. The stimulus was intended to create jobs and promote investment
and consumer spending during the recession.
