North Lake College Presents a Photography Exhibit

IRVING – North Lake College presents The Loiza Project, a photographic study of the history and tradition of the Afro-Puerto Rican culture, January 6 through February 8 in the Central Campus Gallery.

This photographic essay by photographer Miguel A. Casanova chronicles an annual 10-day traditional festival in the Puerto Rican town of Loiza. The activities surrounding the festival honoring St. James manifest a blend of indigenous, African and Hispanic cultures, with emphasis on the African elements.

A reception for the artists will be held Tuesday, January 25, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Central Campus Gallery.
