– For the first time, North Lake College will present
a benefit production of The Vagina Monologues
. North Lake students and
Irving community members will perform Eve Ensler's awarding winning play on Wednesday,
March 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Life Center.
North Lake College has joined the global movement as part of the V-Day 2011 Campaign
to raise awareness and stop violence against women and girls. Proceeds from the
production will go to the non-profit organization Brighter Tomorrows. Tickets are
a $5.00 requested donation and may be purchased at the door.
V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls that
raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve
Ensler's award winning play The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works.
To date, the V-Day movement has raised over $75 million and educated millions about
the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, crafted international
educational, media and PSA campaigns, launched the Karama program in the Middle
East, reopened shelters, and funded over 12,000 community-based anti-violence programs
and safe houses in Democratic Republic Of Congo, Haiti, Kenya, South Dakota, Egypt
