Sunny Jacquet to Review Over 220 Entries
IRVING, Texas- North Lake College (NLC) presents the Student Art Show, April 18-May 8, 2013, in the Central Campus Gallery. The artist reception will be held Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. and includes an award presentation.
“We give over $1000 in student awards,” explains NLC Art Coordinator Marty Ray. “Drawing, printmaking, sculpture, computer graphics, 2D and 3D design works.... really everything that we teach is represented.”
Surveying the show’s wide range of mediums and experience levels, NLC alum Sunny Jacquet
will serve as an outside juror. A local practicing artist with a MFA from Texas Woman’s University, Jacquet has traveled the world to experience classic and modern art collections, including galleries in China, India, France, England and Belgium, to name a few. In August 2009 Jacquet was named one of D Magazine’s New Dallas Nine
- a reference to the original Dallas Nine from the 1930’s who believed that local art can speak universally.
The 2013 Student Art Show includes approximately 220 entries, some of which are available for sale. A listing of student award recipients will be posted online following the Artist Reception. For more information, contact NLC Arts & Technology at 972-273-3450. The NLC Gallery is closed on Sundays.
