Popular annual concert now a two-night event
IRVING- North Lake College (NLC) is updating its annual Spring Dance Concert as the show approaches its 35-year anniversary. Performers will now present two evenings of dance, April 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. Admission remains free to the public.
The North Lake College Dance Company launched in 1986 in NLC’s 450-seat Performance Hall and has continued to increase its audience every year, says Brenda Parker-Braswell.
“Last year we added live music with the NLC Jazz Band and it was a huge success,” says Parker-Braswell. “This year we want to go even further by adding another evening. We don’t want anyone to miss out!”
The Spring Dance Concert showcases a variety of dance styles, to include ballet, jazz, hip-hop and lyrical. Students performing in this year’s concert are working on tightening up group patterns and enhancing emotional expression to convey each number’s message. “Dance can be hard work, but it’s also a lot of fun,” explains Parker-Braswell. “We want the audience to see the fun, not the sweat.”
The North Lake College Central Campus is located at 5001 N.MacArthur Blvd. in Irving, TX.
