Veterans Conference Welcomes Clinical Staff

Training program helps support student veterans
IRVING - On Tuesday, July 16, the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) will host a daylong training program at North Lake College. Created for behavioral health professionals working in higher education, the training addresses the social, cultural, clinical, and campus-specific concerns of service members and student veterans. Registration closes Friday, July 12, at
“Psychologists, social workers, LPCs…this program is for anyone who works with veterans in a post-secondary setting,” explains Carole Gray, Dean of Student Support Services at North Lake College. “We actually are the first community college in the nation to be selected to host this event.”
While the event focuses on supporting veterans in higher education, registration is also open to the private sector. Continuing Education (CE) credits as well as a certificate of attendance are available for attendees. Presenters include Dr. Elizabeth Parins, Psy.D, and Dr. Kelly Chrestman, Ph.D., of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.
