The tourism and hospitality industry has a major impact on today’s global economy. It continues to be one of America’s fastest growing business sectors. The North Lake Hospitality Management program was created in response to this strong demand from local industry for trained individuals pursuing a career in hospitality management.

Most careers in this industry evolve through on-the-job situations, and it can take considerable time to progress through a series of jobs to attain the higher paid positions. North Lake’s program is designed to speed up this process by helping students acquire skills and experience to secure a solid footing within the hospitality industry or help current industry employees update their skills and upgrade their position.

On-the-job learning, so essential in the hospitality business, is part of North Lake ’s program. Students receive academic credit for this experience, but even more important, they apply what they have learned in class to the real business environment.

You will become acquainted with the concepts, principles, procedures and vocabulary necessary to function well in the hotel and restaurant businesses. In addition to specialized hospitality courses, you will study accounting, professional sales, marketing, human resources, and public speaking. Program offerings include an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Hospitality Management and a Hospitality Management Certificate.

The educational foundation found at North Lake College, provides students in the Hospitality Management program with a solid background in business principles and values to manage the unpredictable situations in the hospitality industry with professionalism and ethical judgment.
