Video Technology at North Lake College is two years of intensive study in television production, video post-production, computer graphics, lighting for television, and multi-track audio. How about the four year schools? Yes, please consider these when you look at all your education options. We have articulation agreements (transfer agreements) with most Texas four-year schools. (The University of Texas is the MOST generous of these, they transfer over half of our courses directly into their Video Technology degree plan.) Be sure and ask the admissions counselor for documents about transfer of your courses to four-year state schools. This will get you to the section for Video Technology transfer. You may be able to transfer as many as 24 college hours into the UT-Austin Video Technology Bachelors program. What do we do at North Lake College? We train people for the broadcast, corporate, institutional, and entrepreneurial sector in television production, video editing, computer graphics, web design, interactive applications, animation, multi-track audio, broadcast engineering, and a host of other specialties. How much will it cost? This depends on where you live. Those prospective students residing in Dallas County, Texas will pay $30 for one credit hour of instruction. What are the prerequisites? None of the beginning courses (Video Technology 1370, Video Technology 1371, Video Technology 1372, & Video Technology 1470) have prerequisites other than the normal admission testing and evaluation processes. Only courses listed in the second semester of the suggested course guide for Video Technology studies have prerequisites. All prospective students must meet minimum admissions requirements before beginning Video Technology studies at North Lake College. Do I have to specialize? NO! We give the student freedom to study in all areas of Video Technology. It is encouraged that students take a hard look at the industry to determine where their best opportunities are before their second year begins. Are there any long-term commitments? NO! You determine when you want to take classes, you determine how many classes you take, you determine what classes to take (you must meet minimum admissions requirements before beginning Video Technology studies at North Lake College and meet prerequisites of all classes). Students must meet all requirements in district publications for granting of degrees or certificates. |
