Applying for Financial Aid

Steps to Apply for Aid

  1. If you are new to the DCCCD, complete an Admissions Application.

  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen to apply for federal aid.

  3. If you are not a citizen and therefore are not eligible for federal aid, you may still be eligible for Texas state aid, if you qualify as a Texas resident. To apply for state aid because you do not qualify for federal aid, please complete a Financial Aid Pre-application Worksheet and submit it to your Financial Aid Office with supporting income verification documents.

Special Notes

Peak times are 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., so it's best to avoid those hours, and it's a good idea to read the FAFSA overview before you start the application process. Make sure you have the documents required to complete the application and the Title IV School Code for each college that you may attend.

The code for North Lake College is 014036.

The FAFSA is required for almost all DCCCD financial aid programs, and most of the college Financial Aid Offices provide computers and help with completing the FAFSA.

If you have already completed your FAFSA but did not list a college, you may correct your FAFSA online or call 800-433-3243.

Warning

Making corrections to your FAFSA data after you have received a financial aid award may change eligibility for any aid you have already received. If you have an award and think corrections are now necessary, consult your college's Financial Aid Office.
