Words from the President
...
Quality services, new instructional programs keep
us on leading edge
The hallways are bustling with activity as we begin
the Spring 2003 semester.
As most everyone knows, the newly remodeled Welcome
Center on the fourth floor of the A building is almost
ready. Moving trucks were here last week and we are
thrilled to have our student services staff back on
campus after almost a year.
One of our Strategic Priorities at North Lake College
is to “provide integrated, college-wide services
that nurture and empower student growth and development.”
Our remodeled fourth floor will certainly help us provide
admissions, advising, financial aid, testing and business
services in a beautiful and welcoming setting.
Disability Services, Educational Partnerships and services
for our Rising Star students are also located in the
newly remodeled space. We want to put our best foot
forward as we provide these important support services
for our students.
Another Strategic Priority of the college is to “deliver
high-quality instructional programs that are innovative
and responsive to individual and community needs.”
Our hospitals have been struggling with a program which
is the result of a partnership between El Centro College
and North Lake College. We have 20 students who just
began the Fast Track Nursing Program designed for students
to complete in 18 months.
Nursing students are attending classes at the Academy
High School in the evenings and on weekends. Vice President
Martha Hughes and Dean Zena Jackson have been working
hard to make this project a reality.
The cooperation of the Irving Independent School District
and El Centro College has been critical to the launching
of the Nursing Program at North Lake.
Quality services for students and new instructional
programs keep our college on the leading edge.
It’s so good to have everyone here for a new semester!
