Project Graduation collecting food May 8
The Alpha Zeta Eta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is asking
that graduating students and their guests bring non-perishable
food items or a children's book to the graduation ceremony
May 8 at 7 p.m. in the gym.
The donations are part of PTK's Second Annual Project
Graduation, "Feed a Body, Feed a Mind," and
will be sent to various organizations throughout the
Irving community. Call Dr. Romero at 972-273-3550.
Asian Heritage Festival June 7
Approximately 8 percent of Irving's population is Asian,
and the Irving Public Library would like to acquire
more Asian literature and periodicals to be distributed
among the branches to meet the growing need.
On June 7, an Asian festival, a joint venture between
NLC, PTK and the Irving Public Library, will be held
outside the new library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also
sponsoring the event is the Indian Pakistan Student
Association, International Club, Student Government
Association, and the Student Organization of South Asians.
Your spare change will help support the Asian Heritage
Festival, which is free and open to the public. "Pennies
for Performers" is a fundraiser in progress on
campus. To get involved in this festival or to donate
your pennies, contact David Olmstead at david_e_olmstead@hotmail.com
or call him at 214-693-0019.
In addition, Barnes & Noble bookstore on MacArthur
Blvd. and I-635 will conduct a Book Fair May 3 from
1 to 5 p.m. to benefit the purchase of Asian literature.
Vouchers will be distributed on campus, and 15 to 25
percent of the cover price of the books bought with
the vouchers will be given to the Asian Heritage Festival
in credit to buy Asian literature.
For more information about the Book Fair, call 972-501-0430.
