Students serve on SMU panel
On April 18, four North Lake College students participated
as part of a panel of 15 in a televised discussion with
Congressman Pete Sessons on foreign policy, and with
Lee Arning, the Regional Planner with the Health Department
on Homeland Security. The discussion with Arning included
the issue of the SARS virus.
The event was part of "Teen Voice," an SMU
project where students talk about different issues pertaining
to young adults. The event is completely student-oriented
and all of the interviewing, filming and producing is
done by the Media Studies students at SMU.
Seven other NLC students were present along with the
instructor Sonya Hopkins Barnes. The students gained
much insight, not only in the issues that were discussed,
but also in the area of TV production.
