District stops
mailing grades
Final scores online; need e-mail account on file by
Dec. 12
Anxious to see how you did this semester? Don’t
wait by the mailbox. Beginning this fall, the Dallas
County Community College District will no longer mail
out grades at the conclusion of each semester. Instead,
students will have to navigate to the districts Website,
eConnect, to access their final scores for the term.

If you’ve ever lamented over the testing requirements
imposed on you at college admission, listen to this:
TASP is gone. A new law now requires different testing
guidelines that may ease restrictions on college newbies.
And students who fail the new test are strongly encouraged,

Peer pressure, warped images plague battle
against alcohol, drug abuse
Slogans like “Just say no” and “This
is your brain on drugs” are common messages seen
on prime time television shows, movies and advertisements
that depict the images of drug and alcohol consumption.
Many of these venues portray glamorous images that are
contrary to reality, creating false images of what is
normal behavior, trapping many individuals in peer pressure

coming to campus.
The News-Register and the Journalism Club will host the
second annual Santa Bucks program Dec. 2. Every student
will receive $30 in Santa Bucks play money to shop either

A policy that started this month will change the way
people use the automatic teller machine (ATM) at tall

Arkansas native puts skating first in move
to Metroplex
Jay Lilly, a first-year North Lake student, placed seventh
in the Southwestern Regional Figure Skating Championships
the week of Oct. 19 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Lilly,
a native of Lonoke, Ark., competed in the Novice Dance
division with partner Stephanie Segien. Lilly, who began
skating at the age of three, is experienced in all fields
