Final scores online; need e-mail account
on file by Dec. 12 Anxious to see how
you did this semester? Don’t wait by the
mailbox. Beginning this fall, the Dallas County
Community College District will no longer mail
out grades at the conclusion of each semester.
Instead, students will have to navigate to the
districts Website, eConnect, to access their final
scores for the term.
“Not mailing them saves us money and that
ultimately saves students money,” said Dr.
Richard McCrary, assistant vice chancellor of
educational affairs. He also pointed out convenience.
Students will have access to their grades immediately,
rather than waiting for a mass mailing, McCrary
said. According to the eConnect Website, grades
for the fall semester will become available on
Dec. 17, 2003.
To access the Website, students will need their
student ID number and an e-mail account, said
M.J. Porchia, director of TRIO student support
services. If students don’t have an e-mail
account, or access to a computer, they can go
to K-307 where computers are available for student
use.
Students must have a valid e-mail on file by
Dec. 12, the end of the semester, or they will
not have access to their grades online until after
they have been uploaded to the system, sometime
after Dec. 17. Steve Twenge, North Lake director
of admissions and registration, said students
may still use the telephone system to hear their
grades or come to admissions, A-405, to get a
transcript.
But McCrary hopes students rely on eConnect.
“We hope once students get online, they’ll
realize just how easy and useful it is.”

Password problems
keep North Lake student Elisabeth Nibarger
from accessing her eConnect account. "It's
more complicated than systems I've used
at other schools," she said.
