with SPAR's, Subway's help
Student Programs and Resources (SPAR), the North
Lake Health Center and Subway have teamed up for
a weight loss challenge for students and staff.
During Wellness Week, which is scheduled for
Sept. 13-17, participants can sign up for the
challenge at the kick-off party Sept. 13 in the
cafeteria, or in the SPAR office, A-233, through
Sept. 17.
According to Virginia Jones, campus nurse and
SPAR director, students and staff members who
want to lose weight and lower their blood pressure
will weigh in weekly during the fall semester.
Prizes will be awarded Dec. 3.
“This is an opportunity for everyone to
get involved and get healthy,” said Jones.
“And have some fun, too.” Subway,
North Lake’s only food vendor, is offering
a 10 percent discount to all who participate in
the challenge. The store’s “Eat Fresh”
logo and Atkins-friendly wraps are representative
of today’s health conscious lifestyle.
A spring wellness challenge is also being considered.

at 972-273-3020, or the Health Center at 972-273-3170.
