Choir in full singing mode

By Josselyn Castellanos
Staff Writer

Allan Andrews is the first choir director at North Lake College, and the Chorale is the new NLC choir.

The Chorale consists of 27 students and is still growing. Angela Scott, a soprano in the choir, said, “I love to sing. I like that it’s a stress reliever.”

Roger Jordan loves to sing. “It’s something I really enjoy. I have been singing for a better part of my whole life.”

Rehearsals are held in P-249 from 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday. The Chorale‘s first performance will be Nov. 18 at 8 p.m., at the United Methodist Church of Irving, 211 West Third Street. The performance is free.

Andrews said he makes the musical selections based on “good poetry that’s uplifting, and texts that speak to me.” He has selected three pieces for the performance: Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi, Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britton, and Dona Nobis, arranged by James Moore. For more information on joining the choir, or for questions about the performance, call Andrews at 972-273-3277 or e-mail him at aandrews@dcccd.edu.
