Donut Daze raises $200 for ACS

Special to the News-Register

With the support of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at MacArthur and Hwy 635, Alpha Zeta Eta, North Lake’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, raised almost $200 for The American Cancer Society.

Phi Theta Kappa’s International Service Project for 2004-2005 is “Conquering Cancer: Continuing the Fight.” They have formed a partnership with The American Cancer Society to raise $1 million to fund cancer research.

On Oct. 27, Alpha Zeta Eta officers and their advisor, Dr. Yolanda Romero, held “Donut Daze,” a fundraiser honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With the purchase of a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon, each supporter received a Krispy Kreme doughnut.

“Krispy Kreme generously donated 50 dozen doughnuts and didn’t even bat an eye,” said Judy Faue, AZE’s AVP of Fellowship. Chapter offi cers orchestrated this event and would like to extend a special thanks to Krispy Kreme donuts for sponsoring this event and supporting The American Cancer Society.

Other than Donut Daze, Alpha Zeta Eta participates in many other events to support and raise money for The American Cancer Society.
