Hotline tells you if college
is open or closed
The next time it snows or there’s ice on
the road, all you have to do is pick up the phone
to see if the college campus is closed.
Keep this telephone number handy: 972-273-3232.
As early as 6 a.m., a recorded voice will tell
you if you need to get dressed or go back to bed.
You can also log on to the NLC Web site.
Two literary deadlines
coming up
Duck Soup and the League
for Innovation both have deadlines approaching

Break, March 21. Entry forms are available in
the Liberal Arts office, A-235, or by calling
faculty advisor Dr. D’Ann Madewell
at 972-273-3490.
The 2004-2005 Student Literary Contest,
sponsored by the League for Innovation, begins
at the campus level and moves up to district.
Entry blanks are available in A-235 or by calling
faculty advisor
Dr. Nancy Castilla at 972-273-3413.
Categories are poetry, personal
essay, one-act play and short story.
Deadline is Feb. 28.
Graphic design work on
display in Gallery

and Joel Sampson have their work
on exhibit in the Gallery through Feb. 22.
“It’s About Design” is the
name of the show, which features works on paper
in pencil, computer graphics, and photographic-based
collage.
For more information, call the Gallery’s
new director, Steven Benezue,
at 972-273- 3574, or the Visual and Performing

Instructor co-authors
book with friend
Tuesday Hambric, a former North
Lake Ombudsperson and current human development
instructor, has co-written a novel with her friend,
Lisa Harris.
A Collage of Life is a fictional book
about a group of friends whose
backgrounds and experiences are different.
The book is available in the campus bookstore.
Government instructor
lines up speakers
Dr. Gabriel Bach’s government
classes can always look forward to a list of impressive
speakers each semester in room A-347.

Subway loses manager
Jason
Trosper left his position as manager
of North Lake’s Subway store to pursue an
opportunity at another restaurant.
His outgoing personality, comedic wit, and willingness
to please was a plus to the campus’ environment.
He got involved in club activities and catered
meetings. He was fun to be around. He was no stick-in-the-mud.
He became a friend to the News-Register staff,
and we wish him all the best in his new job.
His shoes will be hard to fill.
Blast from the Past
Welcome
back to this semester’s “Blast from
the Past” series where we show you a photo
from an instructor’s or staff member’s
past and give you a prize if you identify it.
Take a good look at the cute little boy at right.
Does he look familiar to you? If he does, call
the newspaper office at 972-273-3498 and tell
us. You could win a free lunch at Subway.
