NLC population affected
by tsunamis
When an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter
scale occurred in the Indian Ocean off the coast
of Indonesia on Dec. 26, friends and family members
of many North Lake College students were affected.
The earthquake and subsequent aftershocks triggered
a number of tsunamis that devastated many countries,
including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand.
Tens of thousands of people died in South Asia,
and many more lost their homes and livelihood.
NLC, which has the second largest international
population in the Dallas County Community College
District, immediately set up a relief fund through
Jan. 31 in the Cashier’s Office on the fourth
floor.
