| Walter Cronkite
labeled the 1960s as “the most turbulent
years of the century.” It was an era
of great social and technological change,
and many of North Lake College’s faculty
and staff were in high school or college during
this time. They were the first group of youthful
“baby boomers,” and Ford rolled
out a sporty, affordable 4-seater called the
Mustang in April 1964. |

| 1. When she graduated from
Terrell High School in 1964, her parents bought
her a Mustang. She sold it in 1969 for a VW
to save money on gas, a decision she regrets
today. |
2. In 1960, he was quarterback
and captain of his football team at Ord High
School in Ord, Nebraska, which ranked sixth
in the state. The school’s mascot was
a fighting rooster called a Chantacleer. |

| 3. His classmates at Gatesville
High School in central Texas knew him as “Jackie,”
a name his sister gave him because she didn’t
think his real name fit him. Today, he goes
by his real name at NLC, and holds the distinction
of being the only male cheerleader at Gatesville
High. |
4. She was Captain of the Toy
Tigers drill team at Irving High School in
1960, and student director of the A Cappella
Choir. She was also voted “Who’s
Who in Choral.” This energetic teacher
loves to perform. |
