Lake Takes
The N-R's opinion on recent campus happenings
THUMBS
DOWN to noisy students in the library.
Sure, lots of us have had to put up with laughter
or conversations that were too loud in the library
because we didn’t want to make a scene or
get anyone in trouble.
But when the North Lake Police Department has
to be summoned to quiet down students, that’s
serious noise! C’mon, guys. Take it outside.
THUMBS
UP to low-carb snacks in the vending machines.
The N-R isn’t into low-carb diets like
Atkins or South Beach, but we understand that
many of our readers are.
And those people will be happy to know that many
of the vending machines on campus now carry nuts,
pork rinds and beef sticks. Now, if we could just
get the machines to accept our dollar bills.
THUMBS
DOWN to trash in the parking lot.
Ever walk into school and see bags and cups from
a fast food restaurant littering the campus?Ever
open your car door and step into a mound of cigarette
butts?
If there weren’t any trash receptacles
available, that would be different, but our facilities
people have put plenty out there for us to use.
Use ‘em, OK?
THUMBS
UP to N-R’s former editor, Josh Bohling.
Way to make us proud, Josh.
Last December, Josh took a 3-month internship
at the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va., and was
supposed to be back in mid-March.But guess what?
They didn’t want him to go so they hired
him as business section designer!
Plus, the paper is going to pick up the tab for
the rest of his education — at Old Dominion
University.
And to think, he cut his teeth on the News-Register.
