Blazers move on, make us proud

Our guys completed their summer league with six wins and two losses.

We have had a fruitful recruiting time with 25 guys coming this fall to work to make the NLC basketball squad. We have had 140 guys come for tryouts.

Our sophomores moving to play at four-year schools this upcoming season are:

Kenneth Cage — Tarleton State
Aaron Smith — Northern Kentucky
Bassey Ekong — Mesa State, Colorado
Rajshad Anderson — Adams State, Colorado
Len Medcafe — University of Texas at Tyler
Brandon Collier — Paul Quinn College

Our other sophomore, Derek Pickett, will be attending North Texas, but not playing for their team.

We are pleased to have all seven guys moving on to continue their education.

Other former Blazers who are presently at four-year schools are:

Dominique Scales — University of Maine
Greg Baker — Adams State, Colorado
Michael Smith — Wiley College
Filip Vyhnal — Houston Baptist University
Kenny Wilcox — Texas A&M, Corpus Christi
Brandon Weasby — University of Texas at Tyler

One of our biggest success stories is Brandon Bowie, who played two seasons with us in 2001 and 2002.

He is close to finishing up his master’s degree in business administration at Texas A&M - Commerce.

– Tim McGraw is the Men’s Basketball coach.
