Lake Takes

The N-R’s opinion on recent campus happenings.

THUMBS DOWNTHUMBS DOWN to flags flying high.
Oops, oops, and double oops! North Lake’s flag flew high in mid-September despite two proclamations from President Bush at the beginning of the month that called for flags on public grounds and other customary locations to fly at half staff.

Students honored Hurricane Katrina victims and marked the death of Chief Justice Rehnquist in other ways, despite the flag gaffe. Live and learn.

THUMBS UPTHUMBS UP to those who make a difference.
Hurricane Katrina in one way or another has affected us all.

The News-Register would like to give a double thumbs up to those who donated goods and volunteered their time to help with relief efforts.

THUMBS DOWNTHUMBS DOWN to sloppy sidewalks.
Whatever the reason is for your phlegm, please take it to the bathroom.

A lot of us walk the floors and sidewalks of North Lake on a daily basis, and it would be nice if we did not have to jump over spit bombs.

C’mon guys, it’s unsanitary and just plain gross.

THUMBS UPTHUMBS UP to the language lab’s new look.
The Foreign Language Lab is now a trendier place to be. Whoever designed the space knows how to punch up an otherwise ordinary domain.

Beautiful color prints by Cristina Nava adorn the walls and accent the modern, high tech look.

Staff now has breathing room and modular furniture, including a cubicle with an eye on the world, or at least the next room.

The News-Register staff wants that designer’s number.
