Police Beat:

Bicycle patrol on chief’s ‘to do’ list

Chief Chris Drake has not had any problems digging his heels into North Lake and finding changes that need to be made around campus.

He has big plans to make NLC a better place to be.

Safety
A bicycle patrol is underway, which Officer Rebecca Jones is currently coordinating.

“The bicycle patrol should be implemented next spring at the latest, as long as the necessary approvals are made,” Drake said.

Using a bicycle patrol can offer the North Lake College Police Department a few more advantages. Officers can be more interactive with students, and they can get to certain places on campus easier if needed. Using bicycles is eco-friendly and will save on gas, which everyone is trying to do these days!

NLCPD goes Hi-Tech
Thanks to our former Webmaster Mark Lansdon and Officer Octavio Aguirre, students can access the daily crime log online by visiting www.northlakecollege.edu /scresources /policdept.htm.

“A lot of other colleges do not have this kind of access on their school Web site,” said Aguirre.

So thanks, Officer Aguirre, for continuing to update NLC’s crime log and giving students further awareness of crime on campus.
