North parking woes
400 new spaces in the works

The north parking lot will be reconstructed in three phases to minimize the impact on overall traffic flow and parking availability, said John Watson, director of facilities.

Construction includes a new fire lane behind the Natatorium, into the Courtyard between H & F/S, with a new fire hydrant, he said.

The end result will provide more than 400 new parking spots, with added ADA parking stalls. “For your safety, please do not enter the construction zone,” he said.

Watson said that Mesquite trees drop thorns which can penetrate a car tire, so they will be replaced with six different kinds of trees.

“We hope to overcome the ‘sea of concrete’ effect by providing visual layers of differently colored foliage,” he said.
