Students to choose
from mascot names
SGA Executive Board to open communication
avenues After the swearing-in ceremony
and the gavel officially passed, the 2005-2006
Student Government Association Executive Board
is poised to take on t he challenges that the
year brings and meet those challenges head-on
to better serve and represent the student body.
So here it goes.
Recently, the Student Government Association
polled students, faculty, and staff to find a
name for our school mascot. The results are in
and four names made it to the finals. Drum roll
please… Blaze, Outlaw, Wildfire or Spirit
will eventually be chosen to be associated with
everything that is North Lake College.
The Student Government Association will once
again bring the vote back to t he students to
make it official. Details are still forthcoming,
so be on the lookout for more information on where
and when we will be able to cast our votes. This
is our chance; this is our opportunity to leave
a lasting impression of our voice, our choice.
Which one will you choose? We will soon find out
and the rest will be history.
Knowing the importance of student involvement,
North Lake’s 2005-2006 Student Government
Association Executive Board will be opening up
multiple avenues of communication in order to
allow the student body better access to information
about decisions and issues that will have a lasting
impact on us and the campus.
In the coming weeks, The Executive Board will
establish a series of Student General Sessions,
for ums, and polls to al low the current SGA administration
to inform and tap into the pulse of the student
body, laying out upcoming projects, proposals
and events.
Every student is invited to attend and participate
in the opportunity to ask questions, bring forward
proposals, and lend your own thoughts and ideas
to shape the direction of not only t he Student
Government Association, but also North Lake itself
and the future of our education. These proposals
are not limited to academic pursuits but incorporate
a variety of issues which are important to all
NLC students (i.e., the Student Life Center, sports,
extracurricular activities, etc.)
Remember, the Executive Board was elected by
the student body for the student body. We work
for the advancement of our educational experience
at North Lake. The SGA meetings are not only for
SGA officer s and for student senators, but a
re also open to the participation and input of
the students at large. If you happen to be on
campus on a Monday at 4 p.m., join the meeting
in K-216 and let us work together toward a better
future.
