Santa's helpers put their best foot forward on the runway
On Dec. 6, the Journalism Club put on a charity fashion show (produced
by yours truly) to promote its annual Santa Bucks program.
With months of planning and a lot of last-minute organizing,
the show was ultimately a success.
It would have not been so successful without the help that others selfl essly
put forth. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone
who particiapted.
First of all I would like to thank all the models who allowed me to dress
them in clothing that may not have neccesarily been their personal style. The
models consisted of six North Lake students and one staff member (all pictured).
My second hand, Judy Faue, was there to help me from the beginning. She
spent countless hours in the Santa Bucks room helping sort through all the
clothes that had been donated to the program. I don't think that I could have
gotten it all done without her!
The holiday music was selected and put together by former North Lake
student, Scott Jones.
Special thanks go to the following behind-the-scenes volunteers: Journalism
Club president Amanda Witt who took all the photos; Casey Cavalier
and William Gray for helping set up the stage; Mike McKee for providing
the stage lighting; Desiree Espada and Lisa Nakayama for their backstage
hands-on help and also for their help setting up and keeping the show running
smoothly in front.
Journalism Club advisor and publications manager, Kathleen Stockmier,
not only made the show possible in the fi rst place, she was also the one who
emceed the event. I would like to thank her for the making the opportunity
available.
As many of you may remember, Dec. 7 was greeted with horrendous winter
storms, threatening and ultimately forcing the campus to close in the early
afternoon. It did not stop the Journalism Club from setting up the Santa
Bucks store and giving away all of the donated food and almost all of the donated
clothing, toys, household items and miscellaneous gifts. Even though
it was cut short by fi ve hours of its usual running time, the day ended with
success.
With the new semester freshly underway, I look forward to upcoming
events that will draw out the best in fellow North Lake students and staff as
this event did. |
