Police Beat:
Theft, knife assault headline police log

Anthony Kay is the new assistant police chief in the North Lake Police Department, reporting to Police Chief Chris Drake. In just a little over a week, Kay has had to put his staff into crisis mode with a water main break and a power outage.

With those incidents in mind, it's as good a time as any to remind everyone that all calls for police services go through DCCCD Police Communications at Brookhaven College. Kay said the protocol for requesting police services is outlined as follows:

From campus phones: Dial 9-1-1 from any campus phone for ALL police services, both emergency and non-emergency. He advises not to call individual extensions within the NLC Police Department to request police services.

From mobile or other non-DCCCD phones: Dial DCCCD Police Communications directly at 972-860-4521 when requesting police services. Do not dial 9-1-1 from your mobile phone for non-emergency matters. If you dial 9-1-1 from your mobile phone, you will be connected to the City of Irving's Emergency 9-1-1 call center, who will normally transfer you to DCCC Police Communications for police services.
