SGA wants you to
take an active role

The winter break is over and it's time to hit the books once again but nonetheless, whether you are a new or continuing student, it is sure to be an intense yet enjoyable spring semester. On behalf of the Student Government Association (SGA), I would like to welcome all students, new and returning, to North Lake College.
After settling in and organizing a game plan in the fall semester, your SGA is poised and positioned to pick up, follow through, and continue supporting the student body.
As a student, be aware that upon enrolling and registering for classes at North Lake you, too, are a member of the SGA. I understand that many of us have busy lives and cannot invest much time, but how important are your education and experiences while you are here? For those who are busy (that includes all of us), be on the lookout for student surveys in classrooms, in the cafeteria, and all over campus. These surveys are designed by Student Government members and will assist us in providing you and future students an extraordinary campus life and atmosphere. It is a privilege for you as a member of the Student Government Association to take an active role, no matter how small.
Currently your SGA is involved on the regional and state levels and sits on the regional executive board as Region II parliamentarian. Locally, one of the current projects that we are working on is the development of a temporary Student Life Center here on campus, ensuring that student safety needs are met, and my personal favorite - having fun!
There will also be new resolutions and legislation on the table for the Executive Board and Student Senate to vote on, one of which will change the dynamics of the voting procedure for the next Student Government election in the fall 2006 semester. We would love to have your input!
We meet every Monday in room K-216 at 4 p.m., and would enjoy entertaining you with important student issues, so we hope to see you soon, and may good fortunes shine upon you in the New Year.
