Lake Takes

The N-R’s opinion on recent campus happenings.

THUMBS DOWNTHUMBS DOWN to inconsistencies on campuses
Why is it that El Centro students ride DART at no cost and North Lake students have to pay?

We used to receive a discount a few years ago, but that’s been taken away.

You’d think with our college partnering with DART for a light rail station on campus that we’d at least get a discount.

That’s just not a fair evasion.

THUMBS UPTHUMBS UP to teachers who challenge our minds.

Instructor Lynn Brink is taking advantage of her office door’s high visibility and taping challenging questions for the passers-by.

The N-R applauds her method of reaching those not even in her classroom.

THUMBS DOWNTHUMBS DOWN to people who spit on the sidewalk.

In the immortal words of W.C. Fields: “One does not regurgitate and let fly a hock-tuey out of the car window and expect to hold the respect of his public.” This applies to college campuses, too.

THUMBS UPTHUMBS UP to record number of student clubs.
At a recent meeting, Student Programs and Resources (SPAR) representative Dawn Lassiter said that club participation at North Lake is “at an all-time high.”

From Anime to Christians on Campus to Teachers’ Prep Club, this semester’s list of clubs has grown considerably over previous years.

Hats off to SPAR and the active students who dedicate their time and energy to their organizations.
