Advising hosts annual spring event for students getting ready to transfer

Have you selected a college major yet? Do you know what colleges offer that major? What college are you planning on transferring to after North Lake?

These are a few questions students were asking one another and hopefully found the answers to during the spring College Transfer Day held on campus Jan. 25.

Thirty-eight colleges spent the day answering questions and providing information to North Lake students regarding majors offered, tuition costs, GPA requirements, transferable credits and application deadlines.

Transfer students from community colleges are actively recruited by universities because they have proven they can handle college level courses and have mastered the discipline and study skills needed be successful in obtaining a bachelor’s degree. Most colleges offer transfer scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $5,000, depending on the grade point average of the student.

Advisors are available to answer questions and provide information about majors offered at specific colleges, individual degree plans listing courses you need to complete an associate degree and to explore transfer opportunities.

The office of Academic Advising is in room A-415 and is open 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Or call 972-273-3120.
