The N-R’s opinion on recent campus happenings.

THUMBS DOWNTHUMBS DOWN to junk food in vending machines
Water and peanuts. These are the only nutricious products in most campus vending machines.

Many high schools administrators have evicted junk-filled vending machines from their campuses. At the college level, we can manage our own food habits.

But, a school that promotes good health by training nurses should lead by example and provide consistent and balanced options from all of its food and beverage vendors.

THUMBS UPTHUMBS UP to the Blazers and Coach Tim McGraw

We always knew that Tim McGraw was a nice guy, but now it turns out that he’s the best community college coach in the nation.

He and the team put together a string of nine straight victories to bring home the NJCAA championship trophy.

Well done, guys. You made us proud.

THUMBS DOWNTHUMBS DOWN to our vehicle-centric entrances

Students and staff who come to campus on foot, or on a bicycle, are facing major obstacles when they use both campus entrances.

They bravely navigate the grass or the road while the rest of us try to avoid running them over. Can we give them a brake...or a break...and construct a designated path from each entrance?

Not every student can afford to maintain a car. Others choose the physical and environmental benefits of not driving to campus.

The N-R says leave no pedestrian or cyclist behind!

THUMBS UPTHUMBS UP to record number of student clubs.
Our friends in SPAR love a good party. Every year they organize a celebration of our various cultures and ethnicities, along with help from the International Center.

N-R editors like International Day because of the colorful photos it yields for our newspaper’s pages. But, more important is that it spotlights our different cultures and ethnicities while simultaneously proving we are all quite similar.

Any event with this much food, music and dancing is bound to be a hit. This year the party is on April 7 at 11 a.m.
