Success is hard work

Coach Tim McGraw is always focused on success.
The head coach of North Lake’s National Championship basketball team has not only managed to develop a program that wins games, but one that also develops opportunities for the players beyond the North Lake gym.

On the court, his teams are consistently among the top of NJCAA’s Division III, but they can defeat teams in Division I (14 wins in the past two seasons against Div. I schools, including Arizona West, a national contender).

That’s quite an accomplishment. Division III schools can’t award scholarships to any of their players — a far cry from the Div. I colleges which pay for everything from tuition to room and board.

Remember, North Lake’s players aren’t second-stringers that no one else wanted. These are players who have proven themselves competitive with teams two divisions above them. Coach McGraw has a knack for finding the players who will work hard with no promises except a coach that will work hard for them.

In a time when athletes are handed everything, it is refreshing to see a team that works hard, and is rewarded for it. North Lake should be proud.
