Campus Conversations returns
Campus Conversations is a unique way to converse directly with those in the President's Team, to let them know what is going on, good or bad. All conversations will be held at a table in the area in front of the cafeteria. The days are Thursdays (2:30 p.m.) and Wednesdays (10 a.m.).

The following is the schedule for the end of September and all of October: Denise Zachary, interim vice president of business services, 10 a.m., Sept. 27; René Castilla, executive dean of the South Irving Center, 2:30 p.m., Thursday. Oct. 5; Mary Ciminelli, vice president of student services and enrollment, 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11; Candace Castillo, vice president of planning and development, 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19; and Patricia Corbett, administrative assistant to the college president, 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24.


eList makes districtwide debut
A new online service called eList is now offered by the Dallas County Community College District. The service allows anyone who is interested in DCCCD programs and activities to stay abreast of information related to specific areas of interest.

Users may choose from 28 categories of information culled from sources at eight DCCCD locations:

These groups send out information on an as-needed basis; there is no set schedule or publication date. Using eList is a means of keeping a line of communication between users and information providers.

Users will not receive supplemental information if they don't want it. And they can unsubscribe from specifi c eList offerings at any time.

NLC sponsors Feria PanAmericana
On Oct. 7, North Lake College and several partners, including the City of Irving, Al Dia!, La Voz del Pueblo (Radio 1270AM), LAT TV (channel 34), Debes Creer en Ti and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church - will host Feria PanAmericana. The career, education and health fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, located at 2505 W. Northgate Dr. in Irving. The goal of this free event is to provide educational information and health screenings that will help save lives and improve the quality of life for community residents.

The event also will feature Latin ethnic foods, ethnic arts and crafts, plus music from several Latin American and Caribbean countries. A children's area will attract youngsters by offering fun-filled games and activities, plus Salsa, Bachata and Merengue party. Cultural performances will include The Peruvian Dancers, Caribbean Breeze Cuban Band, Brazilian Samba Girls, Dominican Republic Folkloric Dancers and others.


Latinapalooza marks Hispanic Heritage Month
On Oct. 14 North Lake College representatives will participate in a Girl Scouts event called Latinapalooza. The Saturday program will provide participants with information about attending college. A panel of NLC Latina students will speak with the Girl Scouts during their visit to NLC's Central Campus in Irving.
