Irving fire fighters
debut reality TV show
NLC president judges competition
From staff reports
Reality television has come to
Irving — and the competition is
heating up. This fall, one firefighter
from each fire station will put his
culinary skills to the test for the
chance to earn the prestigious title
of Irving's Firehouse Cooks.
North Lake College President
Dr. Herlinda Glasscock, appears in
episode five as one of the judges.
The competition
began on the city's
local cable station,
Irving Community
Television Network,
on Aug. 31, and the
six-episode show will
conclude on Thursday,
Oct. 5.
“We thought
about having a regular
cooking show
with the Irving Fire
Department, but then
the idea of making it
something different,
and playing into the
popularity of reality TV was born,”
said June Boniedot, producer/director
of Firehouse Cooks. Raul Garcia
is the director/editor.
Firehouse Cooks will give
viewers a chance to meet a few of
their firefighters, look into the daily
lives and routines, and see their
neighborhood fire stations in action.
The finale will feature the finalists cooking at the Four Seasons
Resort and Club in Irving.
