Bumpy start for Blazers

Defending champs looking for chemistry

By Tim McGraw

Head Basketball Coach

Basketball season is in full swing for the defending national champion NLC Blazers. With only one player, Brandon Brooks, back from last season, our guys are inexperienced. As a result, we are off to a bumpy start with only two wins out of our first five games. All three of our losses have been to very tough teams — Collin County, Seward County (Kansas) and Odessa.

We have played well at times so I am optimistic that we're going to get better by the time conference play begins in January. Getting 12 new guys to fit together takes time but we are making progress. Eastfield, Richland and Cedar Valley have good teams and will be a big challenge for us.

After our tournament in Missouri Thanksgiving weekend, we return to play three home games. On Wednesday, Nov. 29, we play Ranger College at 7 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 1, we host Abilene Christian University 's JV at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 2, we host International Sports Federation at 2 p.m. Come support the Blazers.
