Field Studies students prep for Big Bend adventure

For more than 20 years, biology instructor Kent Reppond has taken students to Big Bend National Park as part of North Lake College's field studies program.

Students earn four credit hours while studying at Big Bend, 600 miles southwest of Irving.

Reppond said that, until Dec. 1, students can register for the weeklong trip to Big Bend, which leaves on Dec. 26.

If they can't make the December deadline, registration is now open for the spring trip that takes place Mar. 10 to 17. The registration deadline for the spring trip is Feb. 2.

In addition to regular tuition costs, students pay a special assessment fee of $295.

The week of field study work counts towards Biology 1411. Students also register for a continuing education class (PHEZ 1015.)
