Big fluffy coats and warm fuzzy boots are the defi nition of style at North Lake. According to several fashionistas on campus, it is the battle of the boots: Uggs vs. cowboys. Albana Llulla prefers Uggs over cowboy boots. “I am not a very country type of girl,” she said. “I prefer the stilletto Uggs.”

Samantha Fuller, on the other hand, is a country type of girl. “I prefer cowboy boots because not only are they comfortable but they are also something I have worn my whole life. I do not have to dress western to wear cowboy boots. I can wear them with anything from T-shirts to any casual dress I prefer.”

Aryn Blackstone dresses either way. Her style changes with each outfit she wears. “I like cowboy boots because you can wear them year-round and I feel that you are able to dress up an outfit more when wearing cowboy boots than Uggs.”

All three students agree that a person's sense of style is a way to express oneself in a personal way and show people who you really are.

So what are Uggs, exactly? Well, they are sheepskin boots that fi rst debuted in 1978 and are now popular again in 2007. Not only are they comfortable and fashionable, they are a necessity to every girl who has to have the latest anything. And they come in a number of different styles like the Classic Short or Tall, Wahine, Classic Mini, or Crochet, with lots of cold weather accessories to match.

And cowboy boots? Well, they don't need a description in Texas.

So is it Uggs or cowboy boots? You decide. They are both winners this winter.
