Thieves get bold on campus
Police Beat:
Most of us enjoyed a
nice winter break,
but the campus police
were still taking
care of business here at North Lake
College.
Officers intervened in an explosive
dispute between a husband and
wife in the North parking lot. As it
turned out, the husband had a warrant
from Plano for his arrest. He
was taken into custody immediately.
Elsewhere, several items were
stolen from the campus. Again, students
and faculty failed to secure
their lockers and offices and suffered
when things went missing. In
other situations, including a case
where a backpack was taken from
a secured locker in the NLC Testing
Center, people claimed to have
taken precautions but still fell victim
to theft.
Another interesting theft is that
of a master key taken from a desk in
the T-building. The key was reported
stolen, but the case was cleared
by "exceptional means" when the
key was found on the same desk.
According to the
police department,
a case is cleared by
"exceptional means"
when the complainant
chooses not to
press charges.
