Break out the cake and candles. North Lake College turns 30 on March 28. On that anniversary, teachers and students are invited to leave their 10 a.m. classes to meet in the Gallery for a Charter Day celebration, said Janis Browning, the school's director for marketing and public information.

Browning said she hopes the event will help “our students to realize opportunities.” She said speakers will include former students, who will talk about “what they learned at North Lake … that helped them find their career or personal direction.”

Those speakers want current students to understand what their predecessors have gained from their experiences at North Lake, Browning said.

They want to share the secrets of their successful lives.
